GHz digital cordless plus a high definition optical sensor helps this mouse perform reliably whether you re on the road or in your living room. Customer Reviews Using it right now. by Jessica Capps This mouse is very small and cute. I love how it has the usb that can be stored in the mouse. It saves battery power and goes in my bag very well when we are traveling. The only thing that I wish that it had was a back and forward buttons on the sides of the mouse. The mouse that I have with my desktop has it and I guess I got a little spoiled Great notebook mouse for a great price. by G. Taber When the left click button switch decided to deteriorate immensly in response on my previous Logitech cordless notebook mouse I finally decided to buy a new one. The problem hadn t been that bad before but it finally got to the point where I said Alright I ve had enough. I m getting a new one. . Needless to say This is a perfect replacement and I m very happy with the mou! se. It s more comfortable than the last one which was very good and it feels very solidly built as usual from Logitech. The fact that it uses two AAAs instead of AAs is interesting as well. The way the batteries go in is very odd and I was confused about it the first time I put them in. I assumed it maintained the traditional opposite facing battery setup and only when it didn t turn on did I actually take one of them out and notice they were supposed to face the same way. Stupidity on my part. Other than this and the fact that if you re not careful when putting the batteries in you could possibly damage the main circuitboard of the mouse it s perfect. Those two things are so minor that they don t make a difference to me hence the five star rating. All in all a perfect replacement mouse for my old Logitech notebook mouse abotu a year and a half to two years old and none to stingy with the pricing. I bought mine at Circuit City who just so happened to be having a sale on the mouse that day. . before . of mail in rebates. . for such a good mouse! is quite the deal logitech mouse by night owl Great mouse. Bought as gift for my daughter. It is easy to use and is so much easier than a touch pad. The color is a deep red and is nice and shiny. No problems with this product. I really like that the mouse shuts itself down if there has been no movement for awhile. Saves the batteries. Love it by Max This is a great product easy to install reponses very smoothly very fast goo buy. Should Lester Street Children Get Reward Money WREGTV Memphis
in reward money may not go to anyone. That thought isn t settling well with some in Memphis who were deeply disturbed by the Lester Street massacre. State and city leaders freed up the huge sum to help crimestoppers drum up tips leading to a conviction of a killer. Reverend Dwight Montgomery is leading the charge to transfer that money to a fund for the surviving children. He says since one of the children fingered a killer they should get the cash. But CrimeStoppers says that s not possible according to its charter and its contract with the city. Rev. Montgomery hopes this time government can bend the rules. I understand that there are rules and regulations stipulations as it relates to the money that has been put up. We ll leave it up to them to make the right decision. There is a fund specifically set up for the children and families. Debugging hello world
HALCODE Computer Science Reviews Passion for my badly written code Home About Me Subscribe to feed A Review of OpenGL Programming on Mac OS X Debugging hello world April in Assembler Debug History Programming Retro No comments Yesterday we took a break after long hours of intensive coding and a coworker started establishing similarities between our current frantic coding and the fortunately gone days of college homework. I specifically recalled a project I had to build by using MS DEBUG a simple calculator in assembly which also required the hassle of dealing with pretty and safe user input. I have no intention of looking for such listings but I thought about revisiting for a moment the old and dear friend MS DEBUG I ll harness the first post of this blog and try to build a little hello world program in MS DEBUG. I know this has little value outside a personal feeling and a tad of nostalgia maybe. I remember that a tells DEBUG to accept code in memory starting out from CS . ! Ok. Now comes the data which here simply consist of the string hello world A neat output however would require newlines before and after our intended string. A newline is comprised of a carriage return CR ASCII and a line feed LF ASCII on the display. As DEBUG only understand hexadecimal numbers we must use Dh and Ah for CR and LF respectively. Except in code we will represent hexadecimal numbers by following the value with h . Fortunately DEBUG also admits ASCII characters directly and the pseudo instructions DB and DW so we can express our complete string as db d a hello world d a The requires an explanation. In order to print our string in STDOUT we are going to recur to the function h of INT h . This function prints all the characters in memory beginning at DX and finishing when the h sign is encountered i.e. acts as the zero in C strings. Finally we invoke function h of INT h for terminating the program after the string is echoed. And that s it. a CS jmp Jump over the ! bytes of the string CS db d a hello world d a CS mov ah Print function CS mov dx CS int CS B mov ah Terminate the program CS D int CS F g The Go command g will run the program starting at the given address in this case CS If everything goes right the program should output the intended hello world string and finish with the message Program terminated normally. You may save this program to a folder in your hard drive I ll use c tmp . Simply input n c tmp hello.com rcx CX w rcx allows to change the content of the CX register. We store there the value which is the size of our program why note that our program occupies exactly bytes. is in hexadecimal. Write w uses CX for knowing how much bytes it has to save. Now you can dump memory contents d and view your program in hexadecimal or open hello.com with a hexadecimal viewer d CS EB D A C C F C F C CS D A B BA CD B CD D The hexadecimal patterns are very clear. For example C C F C F C is our hello world string. D and A are CR and LF respectively. CD is INT h. B is MOV AH . And so further. Finally rem! ember that you may use Enter e to write your code directly into memory e EB D A C C F C F C e D A B BA CD B CD D g Pretty uh Tags assembly computing Debug hello world Programming Retro Pages About Me Blogroll Life. buttress theory of stress management
This afternoon I ve been working on the Easter bulletin while pondering a sermon on the Lazarus story for this coming Sunday Lent . Although I ve not yet started on Palm Sunday the eco friendly palms are on order. I am a believer in the gift of the liturgical calendar with all of it s funky dates and traditions but as a worship planner I end up holding the varied and apparently contradictory layers together as Lent careens to a close. The liturgical calendar is cyclical like the earth itself. Cyclical but orderly. Advent prepares for Christmas which gives way to Epiphany s emphasis on light. Following the climax of Mardi Gras Ash Wednesday moves us into Lent. Lent the season preceding the triumphal strains of Easter is filled with the somber tones it is a season of tilling the earth. Lent closes with Holy Week the brief span from the Palm processions to Easter is a quiet week in which our spiritual beings lie fallow in wait. From the quiet bursts the bloom of Easter. And so ! it goes. The pile of books and papers on my desk however bear witness to the work of tilling simultaneous to the work of planting weeding and even harvesting. Quite honestly the mess on my desk parallels the mess of emotions running through my mind while I try to see the flow of Easter worship. The pileup of emotions at my computer is much like the pileup of loyalties in our political arena. Instead of gathering mud pies for the partisan fight this fall the Democrats are still slinging mud at one another. Last week Hillary suggested that only she and John McCain were ready for the White House and Rush Limbaugh encouraged support for Hillary. It s no wonder we re all a bit confused. Multi tasking political loyalties is downright exhausting. Still no multi tasking comes close to the emotional wattage of parenting teens except perhaps for that of parenting our parents a hat I ve yet to try . The thing I ve learned about traversing these mine fields is that we do so wearing mul! tiple hats and igniting emotions on any number of fronts. Even with parental eyes in the back we cannot keep it all straight. A friend was sharing the theory that emotions are energy fields and as such can be transmuted into other fields. Maybe so but to do so would require the ability to clearly identify any singular strand in the complex jumble of emotions. Luckily thanks to the buttress theory of stress management the cacophonies of spiritual political and familial movement keep each other in check. Buttressed against one another they preclude any one arena from dominating my field of vision and at least in theory keep me balanced. For the sake of full disclosure though I must confess that my first stop each morning is to check not on the liturgical or the school calendar but rather the delegate count. Maybe the balance needs some tweaking. Post a Comment Name required Mail will not be published required Website XHTML You can use these tags Search Menu The ponderer

Working at a call centre can be awful but at least you get to sumo

It was last updated at on March . A while ago I was having trouble with my broadband. My provider I won t name names actually I will it was Sky wasn t providing. They tried to break me put me on hold for hour after hour day after day wearing me down. And they succeeded. On the few occasions I got through to a human being I could only cackle maniacally down the phone at them. I tried to tell peo! ple what I was going through friends and colleagues but they weren t interested. Shut up about your tedious call centre problems they d say. I was only allowed to come to the pub if I promised not to mention it. I even tried to write about my terrible experiences but the article quietly disappeared without ever seeing the light of day. Spiked it s called in the business. No one wanted to know. But look I m totally vindicated. Someone s made an enlightening documentary about the very same problem Phone Rage Channel . It seems it s a national crisis. We spend on average a day every year on the phone to call centres. Britain on hold. Fascinating. OK so they do approach the subject in a more rounded balanced way than I did. They ve got their spluttering idiots my favourite is the old lady who says she was on and off the phone like a ping pong ball . But then they also go to the other end of the line to the call centres. It turns out that some of the people who work in these pla! ces aren t so bad after all. Like Gemma at Powergen who s got a lovely voice and has been on X Factor twice trying to sing her way out of her call centre. And Mandisa in Cape Town a single mum who dreams of one day owning a black Golf GTi with white seats. But right now just a job any job is fine. Could it be that these people don t deserve the abuse they get Actually it s the people who train them and the bosses who are insufferable. You become more marketable as a person with these skills we re giving you barks a ghastly British woman to Mandisa and her fellow trainees in South Africa. It s more frightening still at First Direct. The bank operates out of a huge warehouse in Leeds filled with positive thinking and management mantras. Staff are encouraged to throw foam balls at each other and to sumo wrestle in inflatable plastic playpens. Happy workers mean happy customers. Paddy the boss or team leader as he s known wanders around the floor in jeans and T shirt slapping his employees on the shoulders to show us how much they like him. First ! Direct staff are taught about on the line language phrases like I can I will I m going to . Then there s above the line language I d love to I d be delighted to which is obviously preferable. Why Because above the line language will breed above the line thoughts. I repeat above the line language will breed above the line thoughts. Paddy is a big fan of above the line language. He tosses his workers Cadbury s Creme Eggs if they manage to get the very above the line phrase that s tremendous into their calls. What is so tremendous about confirming a postcode I d like to know. It doesn t matter it s above the line it s good. There s no mention of anything below the line at First Direct. I imagine a below the line phrase is something like Paddy you re a cock. Or They all hate you really. God it must be a nightmare working in one of these places. I d like to apologise to all the people I ve shouted at at Sky BT Apple in Scotland Ireland Bangalore. And to Mandisa in Cape Town for ! all the abuse that s going to be coming your way. It s not your fault. It s Paddy s. It will all become easier when we reach The Singularity. Actually there have been a couple of mentions of singularities on television this week. The first on the Stephen Hawking programme referred to the plughole in the centre of a black hole into which time disappears. Here in Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Virgin still baffling but less so than Stephen Hawking and way more entertaining The Singularity is the point in time where machines become so smart that they re capable of making smarter versions of themselves without our help. That s pretty much when we can all kiss our asses goodbye. The whole of the human race slips below the line. No second thoughts as Brett Favre packs it in Reuters via Yahoo News
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre bid an emotional goodbye to the NFL on Thursday making it clear he had no second thoughts about his decision to retire. Two days after informing the Packers he would not be back for an th season Favre met with the media at Lambeau Field and within seconds of stepping to the podium was waging a losing battle to hold back the tears. As they say all good things must come to an end I look forward to whatever the future may hold for me the year old told a televised news conference his voice cracking. It s been a great career it s over. I ve given everything I possibly can give to this organization to the game of football and I don t think I ve anything left to give. I know I can play but I don t think I want to. I d like to thank the Packers for giving me the opportunity.I hope that every penny they spent on me they know was money well spent. Few would argue that Packers fans did not receive full value during a dazzling year career that s! aw Favre rewrite the NFL record book . The only player in NFL history to win three MVP awards Favre exits with every meaningful quarterback record including marks for most touchdown passes passing yards and pass completions . FAVRE S PASSION For all his records honors and accomplishments including leading the Packers to victory in the Super Bowl Favre is likely to be best remembered as a man who played the game like a boy. Favre s unbridled passion boyish enthusiasm and fierce competitiveness awed team mates opponents and fans as much as his cannon right arm. But Favre s most amazing feat and one many believe will never be broken is his quarterback ironman record of consecutive regular season starts and including playoff contests. Having not missed a game in almost years Favre conceded that as the new season approaches he fully expects the sport to pull at his heart strings. Last year the year before I was tired I took a while but I came back said Favre. Something told me t! his time not to come back. What matters is it s been a great career for me and it s over. As hard as it is for me to say it s over. I will wonder if I ve made the wrong decision. I m sure on Sundays I will say I could be doing that I should be doing that . I m not going to sit here like other players have maybe said in the past that I won t miss it because I will. Favre offered no hints of what the future might hold for one of the NFL s all time greats though it is bound to include a visit to Canton Ohio for an induction into the Hall of Fame. As time passes I do not know what I will do said Favre. People say do you have a plan No I don t. This is all I ve ever done. I m proud of the fact I ve done it this long and at a high level. This is a new phase in my life and I don t exactly know what that means but it s been a pretty good ride. The Peoples Grocery Market
inspired people creating positive change home business culture ecoproducts environment food misc politics transport travel about register The People s Grocery Market The People s Grocery is a community based organization in West Oakland whose mission is to develop a self reliant socially just and sustainable food system that foster s healthy equitable and ecological community development . The organization which is literally embedded into the fabric of the community runs several different programs all aimed at connecting local citizens to natural food sources and healthy ways of living. A small part time staff and large host of volunteers supports the urban gardens youth education programs community health outreach and public policy initiatives. Recently the organization shifted gears from prioritizing their Mobile Market a bright orange and purple bread truck that delivered affordable fresh local produce and natural foods throughout Oakland neighborhoods to establishing a f! ull service grocery store. As Brahm Ahmadi founder and executive director of People s Grocery stated The original goal of People s Grocery was to open a grocery store that has a new business model to solve problems of the inner city and poor communities providing not only food at different discount levels as needed but also addressing public health issues by providing only the best of fresh local and whole foods along with information about cooking and nutrition. Now we re back focusing our energy on that work. The Mobile Market is expected to be back in action as a tool for educational outreach for the new market. From its inception People s Grocery has insisted that understanding where food comes from and having a vested personal experience in the growing process can make the biggest impact on the choices individuals and families make regarding the food they purchase and consume. The opening of People s Grocery Market will expand the ever growing numbers of people involve! d in this wonderful community education project. New superinsulators that could revolutionize electronics
New superinsulators that could revolutionize electronics April th by Dimitri in Brain Candy Technology Energy loss is a sizable problem for batteries cables and other electricity touching components. However an article from Matter News indicates that tech in the lab points to sizable changes in the future. Scientists could eventually form superinsulators that would encapsulate superconducting wires creating an optimally efficient electrical pathway with almost no energy lost as heat. A miniature version of these superinsulated superconducting wires could find their way into more efficient electrical circuits. Not much on my mind right now, but I guess it doesn't bother me. I just don't have much to say these days. I've just been staying at home doing nothing. I've more or less been doing nothing worth mentioning. Shrug.
